Stay up to date on the Bonnie Brae market
Bonnie Brae is located in southeast metropolitan Denver, just outside of downtown Denver. The winding streets, mature trees and friendly neighbors makes this one of Denver’s most treasured communities.
It was developed in the 1940s and 50s. As Bonnie Brae grew, businesses opened along the 700 block of University Boulevard. Carl and Sue Dire opened the Bonnie Brae Tavern in June 1934, seven months after the repeal of Prohibition, and it continues as a neighborhood gathering spot. Another hot spot is the Bonnie Brae Ice Cream Shop where they make ice cream in house and in the summer you can find long lines - so come early! The Bonnie Brae Tavern and other businesses form a thriving commercial area between Exposition and Ohio streets that still function as the “Main Street” of one of Denver’s most charming neighborhoods. The homes range from the original smaller but unique houses, to multi-million dollar custom built homes. Home prices have been strong in Bonnie Brae, a testament to the desirability of living near the center of a major metropolitan city, with parks, restaurants and shopping all within a few miles.
When living in the Bonnie Brae neighborhood, you will have access to the local neighborhood association that partners with an active Merchants Association, our City Council, and the City of Denver. Bonnie Brae has an annual picnic each year in late summer at Bonnie Brae Park. This event is a great opportunity to meet neighbors if you are new to the neighborhood or re-connect with those you have not seen in a while.
